Drilbur is a pure Ground type Pokémon with a stout, wide body and three large claws on each forelimb. By lining up its claws and spinning its whole body like a drill, it tunnels at up to 30 mph (50 km/h), quick enough to race a moving car.
Drilbur's listed abilities are Sand Rush and Sand Force, with Mold Breaker as a hidden ability. It evolves into Excadrill starting at level 31.
Drilbur was revealed on the Oha Suta television program on June 27, 2010. It shares its Mole Pokémon category with Diglett and Dugtrio.
Drilbur's design is based on a mole, with arms that may come from shovels and claws possibly drawn from the teeth of burrs. Its English name may combine drill with burrow or burr, while its Japanese name Mogurew may combine mogura and doryū, both readings of the kanji for mole, and possibly screw or shrew.
Drilbur was introduced in the Black & White era, appearing in Emerging Powers and in a BW Trainer Kit built around its evolution Excadrill, followed by Dark Explorers and a 2012 McDonald's promo.
Later era sets each carried a single Common printing through the XY, Sun & Moon, and Sword & Shield eras, illustrated by artists including Kagemaru Himeno, Ken Sugimori, and tetsuya koizumi.
The Scarlet & Violet era added Obsidian Flames, Temporal Forces, and Surging Sparks commons plus a Black Bolt illustration rare by Koji Nakata, and the Mega Evolution era followed with a Pitch Black common illustrated by Atsushi Furusawa.

Ranked by each card’s main print in near-mint raw condition. 1st Edition, Shadowless and other versions are priced on each card’s page. The table updates live.
The most valuable Drilbur card is the Illustration rare from Black Bolt, a 2025 Scarlet & Violet set. Every one of the 17 Drilbur cards carries a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 95 percent of the total value, so the rest of the species adds very little. The priced cards run from 2011 to 2026, and the leader stands 1.3 times ahead of the next card in the Drilbur card value ranking.
Black Bolt's Illustration rare leads the most valuable Drilbur cards by 1.3 times over the McDonald's Collection 2012 card in 2nd place. An illustration rare is a modern rarity built around full-art style card artwork. Behind them come the Common from Dark Explorers in 2012 and the Uncommon from Emerging Powers in 2011, both Black & White era prints. The Pitch Black Common from 2026 sits 5th, so Drilbur cards lead with a mix of promotional, Common and Uncommon prints.
Black & White supplies six of the twenty-five leading Drilbur cards, the most of any era, followed by Scarlet & Violet with five. Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield contribute two each, while XY and Mega Evolution add one apiece. The newest era's leader is the Pitch Black Common from 2026, 5th overall. All ten of the top ten and all seventeen of the leading twenty-five Drilbur cards counted by era are modern, with none from the WOTC era that marks vintage.
Among the ten leading Drilbur cards, six are Commons, one is an Illustration rare and one is an Uncommon. Widening to the leading twenty-five, the count of Commons rises to twelve, with the single Illustration rare and single Uncommon unchanged. Drilbur card value is therefore carried mostly by Common prints across many sets, with one Illustration rare at the head of the ranking.
By the value of its single leading card, Drilbur ranks 799th of 1020 species with priced cards, and by the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 643rd of 753. Its only other evolution line member, Excadrill, ranks 545th of 1020 by top card. The most valuable Drilbur cards therefore sit in the lower half of the species field, and the market is built on one Illustration rare plus a spread of Common and Uncommon prints.
