Doduo in the anime: one of Gary's early Pokémon

Doduo's anime debut came in "Showdown at the Po-ké Corral" as one of Gary's Pokémon, glimpsed at Professor Oak's laboratory. It turned up again much later as a Dodrio in "Putting the Air Back in Aerodactyl!".

Doduo on cards: Base Set Commons and Imakuni?'s Doduo

Doduo's first card is Base Set #48 from January 1999, a Common by Mitsuhiro Arita whose art returned in Base Set 2 and Legendary Collection. Gym Challenge (2000) added Blaine's Doduo, drawn by Ken Sugimori, and the EX era printed it three times (Hidden Legends, FireRed & LeafGreen and Emerald). Nearly all of its printings are Commons.

The standout is Imakuni?'s Doduo, a Secret Rare in Evolutions (2016). Imakuni? is a Creatures Inc. staff member and eccentric musician who has worked on the TCG, appears as a character in the Game Boy Trading Card Game, and is credited as the card's illustrator. Paldean Fates (2024) gave Doduo a Shiny Rare by Saya Tsuruta.
