Buizel evolves into Floatzel starting at level 26. Its yellow collar is a flotation sac that inflates when it inhales, letting it keep its face above water to watch for prey or survey its surroundings, and it deflates the sac to dive; its two tails spin like propellers to help it swim and slice through obstacles like seaweed.
Buizel was one of three Pokémon revealed in March 2006 in promotional material for Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, along with Mantyke and Chatot, and every Buizel to appear in the animated series has been male. It seems to be based on a weasel as well as a sea otter, and its design incorporates various flotation devices, such as swim rings and inflatable armbands.
Buizel's first set card was a 2007 Diamond & Pearl Common illustrated by Ken Sugimori. The line continued as Commons through Mysterious Treasures, Great Encounters, and a POP Series 9 Uncommon, running through Dragons Exalted, Flashfire, Shining Legends, and Ultra Prism. Shining Fates added a Common by ryoma uratsuka, Brilliant Stars continued the run, and Scarlet & Violet, Obsidian Flames, and Destined Rivals carried it through the Scarlet & Violet era.

Buizel cards span 2007 to 2025, and the most valuable Buizel card is the one from DP Black Star Promos, released in 2007. All 17 of the Buizel cards carry a market value, and the ten leading cards hold 97 percent of the total, so Buizel card value sits almost entirely in a short list of prints. The 2007 promo is followed by a POP Series 9 card from 2009 and a Mysterious Treasures card from 2007.
The DP Black Star Promos Buizel from 2007, a Common, leads Buizel card value by 2.3 times over the next card. That runner-up is the Uncommon Buizel from POP Series 9 in 2009. Third is the Common from Mysterious Treasures (2007), followed by the Common from Unleashed (2010) and the Common from the base Diamond & Pearl set (2007). Common is the printed rarity on most of the leading Buizel cards.
Diamond & Pearl supplies six of the twenty-five leading Buizel cards, the most of any era, with Scarlet & Violet next at three. Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield contribute two each, and EX, HeartGold & SoulSilver, Black & White and XY one apiece. The newest era's best Buizel is the Destined Rivals card from 2025, 12th overall. Vintage here means the WOTC era, and modern is every later era: all ten of the leading cards and all seventeen of the twenty-five leaders are modern.
Among the ten most valuable Buizel cards, eight are printed Common and one is Uncommon. Across the twenty-five leading Buizel cards the same pattern holds, with fifteen Commons and one Uncommon. The most valuable Buizel cards are ordinary rarities from their sets, led by the 2007 DP Black Star Promos card.
By the value of its single leading card, Buizel ranks 571st of 1020 species with priced cards. By the combined value of its ten leaders it ranks 540th of 753. Its evolution line has one other member, Floatzel, whose top card ranks 231st of 1020. Buizel's card market is a narrow one, built on a few Common and Uncommon prints from the Diamond & Pearl years, with the rest of the species' cards carrying little of the total.
