Blaziken is the last stage of Hoenn's Fire starter line: Torchic evolves into Combusken at level 16, and Combusken becomes Blaziken at level 36. The line picks up the Fighting type at Combusken. Blaze powers up its Fire moves when its HP is low, and its hidden ability, Speed Boost, raises its Speed at the end of every turn. It stands 1.9 meters tall and weighs 52 kilograms.
Pokémon X and Y gave it Mega Blaziken, reached with the Blazikenite, which keeps the Fire and Fighting typing and always has Speed Boost.
May chose Torchic as her first partner Pokémon from Professor Birch in the first Advanced Generation episode, Get the Show on the Road! It evolved into Combusken in A Shroomish Skirmish and into Blaziken in Once More With Reeling!, when it stopped Team Rocket from stealing Pikachu and learned Blaze Kick in the process. As a Blaziken it could battle on par with Ash's Sceptile, and it returned in Diamond and Pearl for a tag battle alongside Dawn's Piplup.
Blaziken's first cards are in Ruby & Sapphire (2003): a holo (#3) by Kouki Saitou and a non-holo (#15) by Ken Sugimori. The EX era added Blaziken ex in Team Magma vs Team Aqua (2004) and Crystal Guardians (2006), and Supreme Victors (2009) printed Blaziken FB, a Frontier Brain's Pokémon SP, with its Level-Up card Blaziken FB LV.X. The XY Black Star Promos include Blaziken-EX and M Blaziken-EX.
Celestial Storm (2018) printed Blaziken-GX with a full art (#153) and a rainbow Secret Rare (#170), and Chilling Reign (2021) made it a Rapid Strike Pokémon with Blaziken V and VMAX, including two Secret Rare VMAX cards by AKIRA EGAWA (#200) and Shigenori Negishi (#201). Journey Together (2025) added Blaziken ex, and Destined Rivals (2025) printed an Illustration Rare (#192) by kodama. Our catalog lists 32 Blaziken cards across 21 sets, eight each from the EX and Sword & Shield eras.
