Blacephalon's head is a white ball covered in pink and blue sparks that can detach from its body, and it is the only Ultra Beast with a signature move, Mind Blown. It can be seen as a counterpart to fellow Ultra Beast Stakataka, sharing the same base stat total but favoring Special Attack and Speed over Stakataka's extreme Defense; both were introduced as version exclusives in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon appearing in Poni Grove at the same point in the story.
Blacephalon appeared in Twirling with a Bang!, performing at a fireworks show before Ash and his classmates learned it was an Ultra Beast. It ended up in a performance showdown with a Xurkitree, each trying to outdo the other's moves, and the Ultra Guardians used a distraction to weaken and capture both Ultra Beasts together. It reappeared in a flashback in Securing the Future!.
Lost Thunder printed three Blacephalon GX cards illustrated by 5ban Graphics: two Ultra Rares and a Secret Rare. Blacephalon also has an SM Black Star promo by Shin Nagasawa. It later appeared in Unbroken Bonds illustrated by kawayoo and Cosmic Eclipse illustrated by Hasuno.

Mind Blown, the only signature move among the Ultra Beasts.
It first appeared performing at a fireworks show in Twirling with a Bang! before being revealed as an Ultra Beast.
