Arctovish's fish half is mounted upside down atop its plesiosaur body, giving it trouble eating despite capturing prey by freezing its surroundings. Its facial skin is impervious to attacks, and it allegedly went extinct from breathing difficulties, though its two-species origin makes that unlikely. It does not evolve, and with Dracozolt, Arctozolt, and Dracovish it is one of the only Fossil Pokémon that is neither Rock-type nor gendered.
It appears to be based on the fish Dunkleosteus fused with a marine reptile, embodying the paleontological concept of a chimera fossil, though its frontal fins resemble those of lobe-finned fish like coelacanths rather than Dunkleosteus itself. In Pokémon Journeys: The Series, Cara Liss is the person who gives Arctovish its species name, and it was designed, alongside the other Galarian fossils, by Hitoshi Ariga.
Arctovish's earliest card was a Rare in Darkness Ablaze illustrated by Shin Nagasawa, followed by a Shiny rare in the Shining Fates Shiny Vault. Evolving Skies later added both a Holo Rare V and an Ultra Rare V, both illustrated by Eske Yoshinob.

Arctovish cards span just two years, 2020 to 2021, and all four of them carry a market value. The most valuable Arctovish card is the Arctovish V Ultra Rare from Evolving Skies in 2021, which leads the Arctovish card value ranking ahead of a Shiny rare from the Shining Fates Shiny Vault, also from 2021. The other two cards are a second Evolving Skies print and a Darkness Ablaze card from 2020, so the whole species sits inside the Sword & Shield era.
The Arctovish V Ultra Rare from Evolving Skies, 2021, leads Arctovish card value by 1.3 times over the next card, the Shiny rare Arctovish from the Shining Fates Shiny Vault, 2021. Third is the Arctovish V Holo Rare V, also from Evolving Skies, a holo print of the same V card type. Fourth is the Darkness Ablaze Rare from 2020, a standard rare without the V designation.
By the value of its single leading card, Arctovish ranks 901st of 1020 species with priced cards. With only four cards in total, the Arctovish market is small, and the Evolving Skies V cards and the Shining Fates Shiny Vault card account for the top three places among the most valuable Arctovish cards.
