Warp Point forces a mutual switch: the opponent chooses a Benched Pokémon to swap with their Active one, then the player does the same with their own Pokémon. All three wordings describe the same switch, opponent first; later versions only restructured the sentences. The effect works even if only one side has a Benched Pokémon available, since each half of the swap is conditioned separately on that player having a Benched Pokémon to use.
Warp Point first appeared in Gym Challenge in 2000 with art by Keiji Kinebuchi, who illustrated it through the EX era and the Diamond and Pearl set. Ryo Ueda took over for the Majestic Dawn printing in the Diamond and Pearl era, the card's final catalogued reprint. Between its debut and that Majestic Dawn printing, Warp Point was reprinted in the Expedition Base Set and Team Magma vs Team Aqua, among other sets.
This card's effect matches that of Escape Rope, a card released later in Plasma Storm. Warp Point was carried through several Japanese decks and expansions between its Gym Challenge debut and its Majestic Dawn reprint, originating from the Challenge from the Darkness expansion and Yamabuki City Gym theme deck in Japan before its English release.
