Enhanced Hammer

What it does

Enhanced Hammer targets Special Energy specifically, letting a player strip an opponent's Pokémon of a non-basic Energy card such as one that grants extra effects. Its four wordings only change 'attached to' toward 'from' and modernize the apostrophe style, never altering the underlying discard.

Printing history

Enhanced Hammer first appeared in Dark Explorers in 2012 with art by Ryo Ueda, who also illustrated the Phantom Forces and Primal Clash reprints, the latter a Secret Rare. Yoshinobu Saito illustrated the Guardians Rising printing and its Secret Rare counterpart, and Eske Yoshinob illustrated the Twilight Masquerade printing and its Hyper rare treatment. It has reprinted across Dark Explorers, Phantom Forces, Primal Clash, Guardians Rising, and Twilight Masquerade, spanning the Black and White, XY, Sun and Moon, and Scarlet and Violet eras with steady Secret Rare and Hyper rare treatments.

Origin

The Crushing Hammer and Tool Scrapper, which also remove resources from Pokémon in play, are featured in the Yellow A Alternate art print's illustration. Enhanced Hammer has appeared across the Black and White, XY, Sun and Moon, and Scarlet and Violet eras, with Ryo Ueda, Yoshinobu Saito, and Eske Yoshinob each illustrating the card during their respective eras, including Secret Rare and Hyper rare treatments.
