Milo runs Turffield Stadium, the first Gym of the Galar region's Gym Challenge in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Born to farmers, he built his strength working the farm alongside his Pokémon, and the town is used to seeing him chase wandering Wooloo with his herding Yamper. He is gentle and laid back, and he struggles to go all out against weaker opponents, which is the stated reason his Gym comes first in the Challenge order. On a hillside west of Turffield sits a huge geoglyph of a gigantic Pokémon beneath a swirl of darkness, a landmark tied to Galar's Darkest Day legend.
Turffield's Gym mission asks the player to herd flocks of twenty Wooloo onto mats in front of straw bale blockades. Milo then battles with a Gossifleur and an Eldegoss, which he Dynamaxes at the first chance. That level 20 Eldegoss is the highest level Pokémon battled at any region's first Gym.
Milo's animated appearances come from the web series Pokémon: Twilight Wings: in Buddy, Hop's runaway Wooloo lands on his farm and he arranges a Flying Taxi to take it home, and in The Gathering of Stars he is rolling hay with his Wooloo before walking out at the Galarian Star Tournament. Turffield itself appears in the Pokémon Journeys episode Sword and Shield: The Darkest Day!, where Goh and Sonia visit the geoglyph and wonder how it connects to Dynamax and the Darkest Day.
His card run opens in Rebel Clash (May 1, 2020) with an Uncommon Supporter (#161) illustrated by take, an Ultra Rare full art version (#190) and a Secret Rare (#201), both illustrated by Hitoshi Ariga. Champion's Path reprinted the Uncommon that September (#57, by take), and the Astral Radiance Trainer Gallery closed the run on May 27, 2022 with an Ultra Rare (#TG27) illustrated by Sanosuke Sakuma.
Rebel Clash carries the bulk of his rarity run by itself, an Uncommon, an Ultra Rare and a Secret Rare all in the same set, before Champion's Path repeats the Uncommon and the Astral Radiance Trainer Gallery adds a second Ultra Rare two years later. The Rebel Clash Secret Rare is the only card above Ultra Rare in his entire run, and Hitoshi Ariga's artwork on both the Ultra Rare and the Secret Rare ties the top of that run together.
