Mary works at the Goldenrod Radio Tower, where she co-hosts the radio program Professor Oak's Pokémon Talk alongside Professor Oak. In the games she is a celebrity in both Johto and Kanto, popular enough that fans travel from Kanto just to hear her show. Her Japanese name is Kurumi, which is why the Japanese versions of her cards are titled Kurumi's Impulse and Kurumi's Request.
When Team Rocket seizes the Radio Tower she is one of their hostages, and after the player drives them out she hands over a Pink Bow in Gold, Silver and Crystal or a Bright Powder in HeartGold and SoulSilver. She turns up again with Professor Oak at the Indigo Plateau, trying to interview the new Champion after Lance is beaten. She is not a Trainer, but she did catch one Pokémon, a Drowzee, and later traded it to a fan for a Meowth.
Mary debuted in the anime episode Air Time!, where Ash appears on her show and she narrates a radio drama that Team Rocket hijacks from inside the studio. She hosts her own quiz show in Pokémon Stadium 2, and in the Pokémon Adventures manga she owns a Smeargle called Smea-Smea, a gift from Whitney.
Our catalog lists 2 Mary cards in 2 sets, both Uncommon Supporters illustrated by Ken Sugimori. Mary's Impulse comes from Expedition Base Set (2002), the set that brought Supporter cards to the English game; it shows her broadcasting outdoors and has you flip a coin until tails, drawing 2 cards for each heads. Mary's Request, from Unseen Forces (2005), pictures her interviewing Olivine Gym Leader Jasmine beside what appears to be Amphy, the Ampharos from the Olivine Lighthouse. It draws 1 card, or 3 if you have no evolved Stage 2 Pokémon in play.
She had reached cards once before, on a Neo Genesis Trainer card titled simply Mary.
Her first Supporter, a coin-flip draw card from the set that introduced Supporters in English, illustrated by Ken Sugimori.
Her EX-era Supporter, with Ken Sugimori art of Mary interviewing Jasmine.

Mary cards span the years 2000 to 2005, and all three of the Trainer character's cards carry a market value. The most valuable Mary card is Mary's Request, an Uncommon from Unseen Forces in 2005, which leads the value ranking for Mary cards. The other two are Mary from Neo Genesis in 2000 and Mary's Impulse from Expedition Base Set in 2002, so the whole group sits between the Wizards of the Coast era and the EX era.
Mary's Request from Unseen Forces in 2005 holds the top spot in Mary card value, a printed Uncommon from the EX era. It is ahead of the next card by 1.3 times, a modest gap. In second place is Mary from Neo Genesis in 2000, the one printed Rare among the three and a Wizards of the Coast card. Third is Mary's Impulse from Expedition Base Set in 2002, another printed Uncommon.
By the value of its single leading card, Mary ranks 90th of 110 characters with priced cards. With only three cards in the group, the Mary card market is small, and the value is split among three cards from three different sets: Neo Genesis, Expedition Base Set and Unseen Forces.
