Janine takes over the Fuchsia Gym after her father Koga is promoted to the Elite Four, keeping his Poison-type specialty and awarding the Soul Badge. Like Koga she is known as the Poisonous Ninja Master, and her Gym still hides her behind invisible walls, with junior Trainers dressed up to look like her.
Her goal began as matching her father with Poison types; as Leader she aims to surpass both him and, after losing to the player, the player too. She returns in HeartGold and SoulSilver, and FireRed and LeafGreen show her before she took the job, outside the Fuchsia Zoo.
Her card is Janine's Secret Art, a Supporter first printed in Shrouded Fable (2024) as an Uncommon and an Ultra Rare, both illustrated by Taira Akitsu. Prismatic Evolutions (2025) added a second Uncommon, also by Taira Akitsu, and a Special illustration rare illustrated by Ligton.
Taira Akitsu illustrated three of Janine's four printings, so Ligton's Special illustration rare in Prismatic Evolutions is the one version by a different artist.
The original Uncommon printing, illustrated by Taira Akitsu.
The Ultra Rare version from the same set.
A Special illustration rare with separate artwork by Ligton.
She is the Poison-type Gym Leader of Fuchsia City in Pokémon Gold and Silver, succeeding her father Koga and awarding the Soul Badge.
