Hau lives in Iki Town on Melemele Island with his grandfather Hala, the island's kahuna, whom he calls "Tutu". He befriends the player as soon as they arrive in Alola, loves malasada, and at first treats battles purely as fun. He takes the first partner Pokémon that is weak to the player's, and he also raises a Pichu that evolves into an Alolan Raichu, the partner he is most associated with across other media.
Over his island challenge he grows more serious, especially after the Aether Paradise incident shows him how far he has fallen behind. In Sun and Moon he is the first challenger to face the player in a title defense after they become Champion. In Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon he takes Professor Kukui's place as the final opponent who decides Alola's first Champion.
Hau has a single card name, the Supporter Hau, which draws three cards. It debuted in the Sun & Moon base set (February 2017) with Ken Sugimori art and was repeated in the Sun & Moon Trainer Kits built around Alolan Raichu and Lycanroc (April 2017) and in Shining Legends (October 2017). Guardians Rising (May 2017) printed it as a full art Ultra Rare by Sanosuke Sakuma, and Celestial Storm (August 2018) gave it new art by TOKIYA.
Collecting Hau means collecting one Supporter in several prints. The Guardians Rising full art is his only Ultra Rare, and the Celestial Storm version is the only one drawn by someone other than Ken Sugimori or Sanosuke Sakuma.

Hau is the player's cheerful friend and rival in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the malasada-loving grandson of Melemele Island's kahuna, Hala. His one card, the draw-three Supporter Hau, was printed across the Sun & Moon era from 2017 to 2018.
No published index yet — too few of Hau’s cards trade often enough to strike one.
