Drake

Drake in the games: the last challenge before Hoenn's Champion

Drake is the fourth and final member of the Hoenn Elite Four in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, specializing in Dragon-type Pokémon, and he holds that the Elite Four is a greater test than the Battle Frontier. His Ruby and Sapphire team is Shelgon, Altaria, two Flygon and Salamence; Emerald replaces one Flygon with Kingdra, and Salamence is his highest-level Pokémon throughout. His Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire rematch adds Haxorus and the Kalos Dragon-type Dragalge.

He is an old shipmate and friend of Mr. Briney, the retired sailor who ferries the player around Hoenn, and in their youth the two traveled the world with Devon Corporation president Mr. Stone. In Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire he can be met aboard the S.S. Tidal, chatting with Mr. Briney. In Pokémon Masters EX his sync pair is Salamence.

Drake in the anime: a ship captain with a lesson

In the anime, Drake is a ship captain who has sailed around the world with a full crew. He debuted in Vanity Affair, beating an overconfident Ash in a three-on-three battle, blasting off Team Rocket with his Salamence, and telling Ash over dinner that he too once lost battles through overconfidence. He returned in Pokémon Journeys, helping Ash and Goh find a Kingdra in exchange for help with his treasure hunting off Slateport City.
