Tauros does not evolve from or into any other Pokémon. Its abilities are Intimidate, which lowers the opponent's Attack when Tauros enters battle, and Anger Point, which maxes out its own Attack after it takes a critical hit, plus the hidden ability Sheer Force, which powers up moves with secondary effects by giving those effects up. In Red and Blue it lived only in Kanto's Safari Zone. Scarlet and Violet added Paldean Tauros in three breeds: the Combat Breed is pure Fighting, the Blaze Breed is Fighting and Fire, and the Aqua Breed is Fighting and Water.
Tauros's best-known anime moment is Ash Ketchum catching a herd of thirty in the Kanto Safari Zone, in an episode that never aired outside Asia; the English dub only mentions the catch, in "Showdown at the Po-ké Corral," where the herd sends Team Rocket flying. One of the thirty later stood in for Snorlax in Ash's Orange League final against Drake, and in "Tricks of the Trade" Ash borrowed one back to win a Tauros competition against Fernando, a champion with ten straight wins.
Tauros's first card is Jungle #47 from June 1999, an Uncommon illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Gym Heroes (2000) added Blaine's Tauros, and the species stayed a steady Common-to-Rare presence through the Wizards, EX and Diamond & Pearl eras. Sun & Moon (2017) printed Tauros-GX, topped by a rainbow secret rare at #156.
Scarlet & Violet reframed Tauros around its Paldean breeds. Paldea Evolved (2023) printed an illustration rare Paldean Tauros by Anesaki Dynamic, and Paldean Fates (2024) followed with three shiny rare Paldean Tauros cards, one Fire, one Water and one Fighting, matching the three breeds. Chaos Rising (2026) added an illustration rare of the original Tauros by Tsuyoshi Nagano.
For most of the card game's history Tauros was a dependable, unglamorous Normal type with a Jungle nostalgia anchor. The Paldean breeds gave it a set of modern cards worth collecting as a trio, from the Paldea Evolved illustration rare to the three Paldean Fates shinies.
