Sinistea's teacup is a famous, often-forged piece of antique tableware whose lacy pattern resembles a face. Its purple swirl pattern is a weakness: if stirred, the swirl disappears and Sinistea gets dizzy. Antique Form Sinistea, identified by a stamp on the cup's base, is highly sought after, while Phony Form lacks the stamp. Sinistea was designed by James Turner.
A Sinistea appeared in The Spectral Express!, helping Allister put tea into a possessed Ash's mouth. A Phony Form Sinistea later appeared in Slip and Crash! A Mystery Pokémon?!, born from Diana's antique teacup, and joined the Rising Volt Tacklers alongside Polteageist.
Sinistea's earliest printing was a Common in Sword and Shield illustrated by Saya Tsuruta, followed by a Darkness Ablaze printing and a Shiny rare in the Shining Fates Shiny Vault. In the Scarlet & Violet era it has a Common in Obsidian Flames by Yuka Morii and an SVP Black Star promo by kurumitsu.
