Nincada evolves into Ninjask starting at level 20, and can simultaneously produce Shedinja if the player has an empty party slot and a spare regular Poke Ball, which is consumed in the process; in Generation III no extra ball is needed. Nincada is the only Pokémon that evolves into two Pokémon at once, and the only Pokémon with a higher base stat total than its own evolved form, outscoring Shedinja by 30 points. It is nearly blind from living almost entirely underground, relying on its antennae instead.
Nincada debuted in A Three Team Scheme, belonging to a boy named Keanu who lived in his Secret Base in solitude, and later became a target of one of Team Rocket's schemes.
Nincada launched with three separate Dragon Commons illustrated by Toshinao Aoki, Ken Sugimori, and Hajime Kusajima, followed by Deoxys. Legends Awakened and Supreme Victors continued its run, then Dragons Exalted and Roaring Skies carried it through the Black and White and XY eras. Lost Thunder followed in Sun and Moon and Vivid Voltage in Sword and Shield, before it reached the Mega Evolution set as a Common.
