Latias

Latias in the anime: star of Pokémon Heroes

Latias headlines the fifth Pokémon movie, Pokémon Heroes: Latios & Latias, set in the water city of Alto Mare. The thieves Annie and Oakley hunt the two Eon Pokémon and the Soul Dew jewel, and Latias, often disguised as a girl, helps Ash save both her brother and the city. The film gave Latias Sight Sharing, the power to let the people around her see what Latios sees, and the ability returned in Pokémon Journeys.

Latias on cards: Dragon's Latias ex through Gold Star, Delta Species and Mega Latias ex

Latias first appeared on a Japanese movie-theater card pack. In English, its earliest cards are a Nintendo Black Star Promo by Ken Sugimori and Latias ex in the Dragon expansion (2003), illustrated by Ryo Ueda. Deoxys (2005) then printed Latias ☆, the EX era's Gold Star treatment, and the Delta Species cards followed: Latias δ in Delta Species (2005) as a Lightning and Metal type, two more Latias δ cards in Holon Phantoms (2006) and Latias ex δ in Dragon Frontiers (2006) as a Fire type.

Team Up (2019) paired Latias with Latios in Latias & Latios-GX, printed four ways including full arts at #169 and #170 and a rainbow secret rare at #190. Surging Sparks (2024) printed Latias ex, topped by a special illustration rare (#239), and the Mega Evolution set (2025) gave it Mega Latias ex three ways, including a special illustration rare by AKIRA EGAWA.

Why collectors care about Latias

Latias's card run covers most of the game's special treatments, from the EX era's Gold Star and Delta Species cards to a Prism Star, a tag team GX shared with Latios and modern special illustration rares, and its shared cards make it a natural companion to a Latios collection.
