Klinklang's red core stores energy gained from its rotating gears, released through the spiked gear at its base, and despite being of unknown gender it is referred to as male in a PokePark 2 entry. The idea for its evolutionary line came from Ken Sugimori, with designs by Keiko Moritsugu, and it is the only rentable Pokémon known to use a move twice as an opponent in Dynamax Adventures.
Klinklang, alongside Klink and Klang, appeared in the films White: Victini and Zekrom and Black: Victini and Reshiram under Mannes's ownership, powering a music machine, doing yard work and running his helicopter. It made its series debut in Evolution Exchange Excitement!, found in Chargestone Cave with Cedric Juniper's pen stuck in its gears.
Klinklang's first card was a 2011 Black & White Rare illustrated by 5ban Graphics, followed by Emerging Powers and Dark Explorers Rares. Darkness Ablaze and Brilliant Stars continued the Rare run, and Journey Together added an N's Klinklang Uncommon, with Black Bolt closing with an Illustration Rare by Yuka Morii.
