Hakamo-o evolves from Jangmo-o at level 35 and into Kommo-o at level 45, and has Bulletproof or Soundproof as its Ability, with Overcoat hidden. It is a bipedal reptile with overlapping gray scale plates and a yellow forehead scale marked with a heart-shaped stripe, plus two circular neck scales and small white feathered crests near its shoulders and head. Its ritual war cries before battle appear to reference the Haka, a Polynesian war dance, and its name may combine Haka with mo'o, Hawaiian for lizard or dragon, with its scale sounds also recalling cymbals and castanets.
Three Hakamo-o debuted in Family Determination!, serving as Ally Pokémon to a Totem Kommo-o and battling Lillie and Gladion before being defeated by Silvally and Snowy. They returned in Revealing the Stuff of Legend!, where they and another Hakamo-o attacked Professor Burnet and her Munchlax until Professor Kukui's Braviary drove them away.
Hakamo-o's earliest card was an Uncommon in Guardians Rising illustrated by Shin Nagasawa, followed by an Uncommon in Crimson Invasion. Dragon Majesty and Cosmic Eclipse have each added further printings since.
