Ducklett is the Water Bird Pokémon, a light-blue, duckling-like Water and Flying type with two feathery head tufts forming a V-shape, evolving into Swanna at level 35. It is better at swimming than flying, watching its Swanna parents' movements to learn, and can spray water from its feathers to distract foes and escape.
Ducklett shares its category with Pelipper, both known as the Water Bird Pokémon. Its design may be based on a duckling or cygnet, with its evolutionary line possibly inspired by the fairy tale The Ugly Duckling.
Three Ducklett debuted in Dancing With the Ducklett Trio!, attacking Ash and his friends and stealing items including Ash's hat and Sandile's sunglasses. A sunglasses-wearing Ducklett belonging to a nefarious Trainer stole food from the Driftveil Market in The Mighty Accelguard to the Rescue! before being stopped by the Mighty Accelguard's Accelgor. A Ducklett was also the fourth member of Croconaw's gang in The Pirates of Decolore!, keeping their raft from drifting away before joining Officer Jenny's squad.
Ducklett's earliest card was a 2011 Black and White Common illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, and Himeno also drew its BW Black Star Promo. It has remained a Common rarity across most releases, including Emerging Powers, Dark Explorers, Boundaries Crossed and Plasma Blast.
Shining Fates added a Shiny Rare Ducklett in its Shiny Vault illustrated by Kyoko Umemoto, and White Flare later paired a standard Common Ducklett by Mizue with an illustration rare by GIDORA.
