Cherubi's small second head is edible and sweet, drawing the attention of other Pokémon like Starly, and it detaches once Cherubi evolves, becoming food for other creatures. Sunlight turns its pink body a deeper red as it builds up nutrients, and honey draws it in. It can turn up through every tree-based encounter mechanic in games where it is available, a trait it shares with Burmy.
Gardenia's Cherubi debuted in The Grass-type Is Always Greener! against Ash's Turtwig, fighting it again in an official Gym battle in The Grass Menagerie! where its speed forced Ash to recall Turtwig for Staravia. Marilyn's Cherubi later defeated Dawn's Buneary in Battling a Cute Drama! before tying with Brock's Sudowoodo.
Cherubi's first card was a 2007 Diamond & Pearl Common illustrated by Ken Sugimori, followed the same year by a POP Series 6 Common from Atsuko Nishida. Stormfront, Supreme Victors and Arceus added further Commons, and later printings included a Legendary Treasures Uncommon, also by Nishida, plus Sword & Shield era Commons in Battle Styles, Brilliant Stars and Crown Zenith.
