Relicanth is the Longevity Pokémon, a Water/Rock dual type from Generation 3 at dex #369. It does not evolve. Modeled on the coelacanth, its hard scales and fatty, oil-filled body let it withstand crushing ocean depths, and it has lost its teeth entirely, feeding as a filter feeder on microscopic organisms.
Bulbapedia notes Relicanth shares many similarities with Fossil Pokémon, also being part-Rock-type, sharing a seven-to-one male gender ratio, and being referred to as an ancient Pokémon in some Pokédex entries. It is also the only Rock-type Pokémon with fins and the only Rock-type Pokémon in the Water 2 Egg Group, and its unique EV yield of one HP and one Defense point is unmatched by any other species.
Multiple Relicanth debuted in A Ruin With a View, when Ash, May, and Professor Alden found a lake full of them, and reappeared in The Relicanth Really Can!, where a group of them led Adam and Evelyn to treasure.
Relicanth's first card is a 2004 Hidden Legends Rare illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno, followed by Atsuko Nishida's Emerald Rare and Mitsuhiro Arita's Holon Phantoms printing. Sumiyoshi Kizuki illustrated two Supreme Victors cards, Wataru Kawahara contributed a Call of Legends Common, and 5ban Graphics illustrated a Plasma Blast Uncommon. Kagemaru Himeno returned for an Ancient Origins Common, and the Sword & Shield era added MAHOU's Darkness Ablaze Uncommon, ryoma uratsuka's Lost Origin printing, and SATOSHI NAKAI's Silver Tempest Common. The line continued to a 2024 Temporal Forces illustration rare by Mitsuhiro Arita before reaching the Mega Evolution era in Pitch Black.
