Crystal Shard changes its holder's type to Colorless for as long as it is attached, discarding itself at the end of the turn the holder attacks, or immediately if that Pokémon is Knocked Out. The Skyridge wording described this as changing the Pokémon's type (color), while the Deoxys and Crystal Guardians wordings dropped the parenthetical color, referring simply to the Pokémon's type.
The card debuted in the WOTC era's Skyridge with art by Jungo Suzuki, then was reprinted in the EX era's Deoxys with the same artwork in a full-frame view. It returned in Crystal Guardians with new art by Takumi Akabane. Our catalog lists 3 printings.
The Crystal Guardians wording also names Crystal Shard directly in the Colorless clause, where the Skyridge and Deoxys texts say this card.
The Skyridge printing is Crystal Shard's first release
The Deoxys printing reprints the original artwork in full-frame view
The Crystal Guardians printing brought new artwork by Takumi Akabane
Colorless, for as long as the card remains attached.
No, later printings dropped the parenthetical word color, and Crystal Guardians names the card directly; the effect is the same.
