Rotom

Rotom on cards: a Great Encounters holo and the Rising Rivals Rotom subset

Rotom's first card is a Rare Holo in Great Encounters (2008), illustrated by Daisuke Ito. Rising Rivals (2009) then gave the appliance forms a subset of their own: Fan, Frost, Heat, Mow and Wash Rotom are holo cards numbered RT1 to RT5, each drawn by a different illustrator, with the Supporter Charon's Choice completing the run at RT6.

Rotom's later treatments: Shiny Vault to Special illustration rare

Shining Fates put a Shiny rare Rotom in its Shiny Vault subset in 2021, and Lost Origin followed in 2022 with an Ultra Rare Rotom V. The high-end treatments have continued in the Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution eras: an Illustration rare Rotom in Destined Rivals (2025), a Special illustration rare Rotom ex by Yoshimi Miyoshi in Phantasmal Flames (2025) and an Illustration rare Fan Rotom in Ascended Heroes (2026). 5ban Graphics holds the most Rotom credits in our catalog (6), followed by Toshinao Aoki (3).

Why collectors care about Rotom

Rotom gives collectors two threads to follow. One is the forms: the Rising Rivals RT subset is a compact, era-defined chase, and the appliance forms have kept returning as their own cards since. The other is the rarity ladder, with the base Rotom picking up a Shiny Vault card, a V, and illustration rare and special illustration rare printings across the Sword & Shield, Scarlet & Violet and Mega Evolution eras.
