Aggron closes out the Aron line: Aron evolves into Lairon at level 32, and Lairon becomes Aggron at level 42. It stands 2.1 meters tall and weighs 360 kilograms. Its abilities are Sturdy and Rock Head, which prevents recoil damage, with Heavy Metal as its hidden ability.
Pokémon X and Y gave it a Mega Evolution through the Aggronite. Mega Aggron drops the Rock type and becomes pure Steel, with the Filter ability; Aggron and Garchomp (through Mega Garchomp Z) are the only dual-type Pokémon that become single-type when they Mega Evolve. Mega Aggron also ties Mega Steelix for the highest base Defense of any Steel type.
Aggron debuted in the anime in A Hole Lotta Trouble as a member of Steven Stone's team, sending Team Rocket flying before it was recalled. It returned in Battling as Hard as Stone!, Steven's Masters Eight Tournament match against Ash, where it beat Dracovish before falling to Gengar. A Mega Evolving Aggron also appears under Mega Wave control in the film Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel.
