Buddy-Buddy Poffin

What it does

Buddy-Buddy Poffin lets a player bring up to 2 low-HP Basic Pokémon straight onto the Bench in one Item play, useful for setting up multiple attackers or support Pokémon at once without needing separate cards for each. Its single wording has remained unchanged across every printing, keeping the 70 HP threshold consistent throughout.

Printing history

Buddy-Buddy Poffin first appeared in Temporal Forces in 2024 with art by AYUMI ODASHIMA, who has illustrated every printing of the card. It reappeared as a Hyper rare in Twilight Masquerade, then in Prismatic Evolutions, and in the Mega Evolution era's Mega Evolution set as an Ultra Rare and Ascended Heroes as a Common, giving the card five printings within about two years of its debut. The 70 HP ceiling on eligible Pokémon keeps its use focused on smaller Basic Pokémon rather than bulkier attackers. Its rarity has ranged from Uncommon in Temporal Forces and Prismatic Evolutions to Hyper rare in Twilight Masquerade, Ultra Rare in Mega Evolution and Common in Ascended Heroes. Every printing shares the same text, benching up to 2 Basic Pokémon of 70 HP or less and then shuffling the deck.

Origin

A Poffin is a type of Pokémon food introduced in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, used to raise a Pokémon's Contest conditions.
