Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the WOTC era.
Neo Revelation is a 64-card expansion from the WOTC era's Neo series, released on September 21, 2001 under the set code N3, with two secret cards numbered above the printed count for 66 printings in all. The set is built around the Johto beasts and their companions, since Celebi, Entei, Ho-oh, Raikou and Suicune each appear in two versions. Its Pokémon lean on Water, Colorless, Grass and Psychic types, and the Shining cards, led by Shining Gyarados and Shining Magikarp, give the Neo Revelation card list its most recognisable cards.
Neo Revelation is built on a short pull ladder of commons, uncommons and rares, with 16 chase-tier cards and the two secret cards sitting above the printed 64. The most valuable cards are all rares: Shining Gyarados leads, followed by Houndoom, Entei, Raikou and Ho-oh. Ken Sugimori illustrated Shining Gyarados, Entei and Raikou, and he has the most cards in the set at 7. The top five cards hold 46 percent of the set's total card value, so the chase cards carry a large share of the worth, though not all of it.

It followed Southern Islands, which holds less total value, and came before Neo Destiny, which holds more. Its cards first appeared in the Japanese set Awakening Legends, released November 23, 2000, which shares 51 cards with it.

A complete Neo Revelation run is 66 printings, all of them priced, and with 46 percent of the value in five cards, the cost of finishing the set depends mostly on a handful of Shining and Johto beast rares rather than the commons and uncommons. The set's sealed line covers three products, made up of booster packs and a booster box, so unopened Neo Revelation product is available alongside the singles.
