Variants define the Boundaries Crossed master set: it takes 271 slots to cover 153 cards, since 149 are in the official count and 4 secret rares sit above it. That works out to about 1.8 slots per card, split across 135 normal prints, 116 reverse holos and 20 holos. Laid out nine to a side, the master set checklist fills 16 double-sided binder pages. It is a sizable job for a Black & White era set from the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on November 7, 2012.
Only three variant families make up the Boundaries Crossed master set: Normal at 135 slots, Reverse Holo at 116 and Holo at 20. The reverse holo family is the one that stretches the checklist beyond the card count, because Common, Uncommon and Rare cards each carry a reverse holo alongside the standard print. A reverse holo has the foil pattern on the card body rather than the art box, and for a master set it counts as a separate slot. There are no stamped or edition families here, so the work is mostly about covering every finish of every card.
| Variant family | Slots | Priced | Share of value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 135 | 132 | 73% |
| Reverse Holo | 116 | 116 | 21% |
| Holo | 20 | 20 | 5.9% |
The Boundaries Crossed master set cost is concentrated at the top. As of October 24, 2026, 268 of the 271 slots carry a price, and the ten highest-value slots hold 63 percent of the total. Normal prints account for 73 percent of master set value, reverse holos for 21 percent and holos for 6 percent. At the other end, the lower-value half of the priced slots holds only 2 percent combined, so most of the checklist adds very little to the total and a handful of cards set the overall figure.

Five slots carry 45 percent of the Boundaries Crossed master set's total value. In value order they are Black Kyurem-EX and White Kyurem-EX, both Ultra Rare, then the Secret Rare Altaria, followed by the Ultra Rare Trainers Skyla and Bianca. Every one of them is the card's main Normal print rather than a variant, so the difficulty here comes from the chase cards themselves, not from an overlooked reverse holo. Finishing this master set means landing those five, since the rest of the checklist is far lighter.
At 271 slots, the Boundaries Crossed master set is about 1.5 times the era median of 184 slots among Black & White sets, which makes it a larger job than most of its neighbours. By master set value it ranks 4th among the 12 comparable sets of its era. The previous release, Dragon Vault, is a far smaller project at 21 slots and holds lower master set value, while the next, Plasma Storm, runs to 208 slots yet holds higher value.

A Boundaries Crossed master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 153 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
