The Black & White master set takes 184 slots, against 115 cards in the set: 114 in the official count plus 1 secret rare. Each card adds about 1.6 slots on average, because the reverse holo run sits on top of the normal prints. Normal prints fill 110 slots, reverse holos 68 and holos 6. Laid out nine to a side, the full master set checklist fills 11 double-sided binder pages. That is a modest run for the English-language Pokémon TCG, in the Black & White era, released April 25, 2011.
Only three variant families make up the Black & White master set: Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo. The 110 normal slots are the base of the checklist, while the 68 reverse holo slots are a second print of cards in the Uncommon, Common and Rare tiers, so each of those cards needs two slots in the binder. The 6 holo slots are the smallest family. A reverse holo is a card with the foil on the frame and the art left flat, and it counts as a separate slot from the standard print of the same card.
| Variant family | Slots | Priced | Share of value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 110 | 103 | 69% |
| Reverse Holo | 68 | 68 | 26% |
| Holo | 6 | 6 | 4.7% |
The Black & White master set cost is concentrated at the top. As of October 24, 2026, 177 of the 184 slots carry a price, and the ten highest-value slots hold 66 percent of the total. Normal prints account for 69 percent of the value, reverse holos for 26 percent and holos for 5 percent. The lower-value half of the priced slots adds up to only 5 percent, so most of the checklist is filled by slots that barely move the total while a handful decide the rest.

Three slots set the difficulty here: the secret rare Pikachu, then the Ultra Rare Zekrom and Reshiram, ranked first, second and third by value. Two reverse holos follow in fourth and fifth, and they surprise people. The Rare Reshiram reverse holo and the Common Deerling reverse holo are both variants, not the main prints of their cards, yet they sit among the five hardest slots. Together these five hold 59 percent of the master set's total value.
At 184 slots, the Black & White master set is about equal to the era median of 184 slots, so it is an average-sized job for its era. By master set value it ranks 10th of 12 comparable sets in the era. Its neighbours differ in size: Call of Legends has 205 slots and a master set that holds higher value, while Emerging Powers has 158 slots and a master set that holds lower value.

A Black & White master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 115 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
