Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the EX era.
Team Rocket Returns is an expansion in the English-language Pokémon TCG's EX era, released on November 1, 2004 under the set code TR. It lists 109 official cards, with 2 secret cards numbered above that count, for 111 catalog printings in all. The set is built around the Dark Pokémon theme, with Dark Dragonair, Dark Houndoom, Dark Pupitar and Dark Tyranitar each appearing in two versions, and Dratini repeated alongside them. Its headline cards are the Torchic, Mudkip and Treecko star cards and the Rocket's ex cards, and it leans mostly on Darkness, Grass, Water and Fighting types.
The rarity ladder here is plain: 32 commons, 35 uncommons and 44 rares, with the 2 secret cards sitting above the printed 109. Value gathers in the rare slot. Torchic ☆ is the most valuable card, followed by Mudkip ☆, Rocket's Snorlax ex, Treecko ☆ and Rocket's Mewtwo ex, all rares. Masakazu Fukuda illustrated the three star cards, and Mitsuhiro Arita the two Rocket's ex cards among them. The top five cards alone hold 72 percent of the set's total card value, so the Team Rocket Returns card list is far more top-heavy than its rarity count suggests.

A complete run means all 111 catalog printings, and every one of them is priced. Because 72 percent of the set's value sits in its top five cards, the cost of finishing it is driven by a handful of rare star and ex cards, while the commons and uncommons make up the bulk of the card list and little of the money. Sealed product for Team Rocket Returns is a short line, a booster box and a booster pack, which keeps the sealed side simple.
