Obsidian Flames is a Scarlet & Violet expansion with the set code OBF, built around 197 official cards with 33 secret cards numbered above that count, for 230 printings in the English-language Pokémon TCG. The release date was August 11, 2023. Charizard ex defines it: the card appears in four printings, more than any other name, and it holds the top spots on the value list. Beyond the headline Pokémon, the set leans on Colorless, Grass, Psychic and Fighting types, and it repeats Lechonk four times, with Bellibolt, Eiscue ex and Geeta each printed three times.
The rarity ladder in Obsidian Flames runs from commons and uncommons up through 54 chase-tier cards, split across double rares, ultra rares, illustration rares, special illustration rares and three hyper rares, with the secret cards sitting above the printed 197. The most valuable cards are the special illustration rare Charizard ex by AKIRA EGAWA, the hyper rare Charizard ex by 5ban Graphics, the illustration rare Ninetales by SIE NANAHARA and the illustration rare Cleffa by HYOGONOSUKE. The top five cards hold 51 percent of the set's total card value, so a few Charizard ex printings and illustration rares carry the chase.
As of October 2026, Obsidian Flames ranks 15th by total card value among the 16 comparable Scarlet & Violet sets and 120th across the whole game, at about 0.4 times the era median. Its most valuable single card ranks 13th in the era and it sits 12th for trading activity. At 197 official cards it runs larger than the era median of 164. It follows Paldea Evolved, which holds more total value, and comes before 151, which also holds more. Its cards first appeared in Japan in SV3: Ruler of the Black Flame, which shares 82 cards with it, and in the SV: ex Start Decks, which share 63.

A full run of Obsidian Flames means 230 printings, and all 230 are priced, so the whole card list can be tracked. With 51 percent of total card value sitting in the top five cards, the cost of a complete set depends heavily on those few Charizard ex and illustration rare printings, while the commons and uncommons that make up most of the checklist add little. The sealed line has 24 products, led by blisters, booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes, and also includes a booster box, a booster bundle, Build & Battle Boxes and a booster case.
