Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Black & White era.
Next Destinies is an expansion in the Black & White era, released in the English-language Pokémon TCG on February 8, 2012 under the set code NXD. It carries 99 official cards plus 4 secret rares above that count, for 103 printings in all. The set is best known for bringing the first EX cards to the game, and its headline cards are Reshiram-EX, Zekrom-EX, Mewtwo-EX and Kyurem-EX. Several Pokémon appear in more than one version, including Arcanine, Chandelure, Growlithe, Kyurem-EX and Lapras, and the card list leans on Water, Fire, Lightning and Psychic types.
The Next Destinies chase cards sit at the top of a short rarity ladder: Commons, Uncommons and Rares make up most of the run, while 10 chase-tier cards are split between 6 Ultra Rares and 4 Secret Rares, the secrets numbered past the printed 99. Reshiram-EX leads the most valuable cards, followed by the Secret Rare Zoroark, then Zekrom-EX, Mewtwo-EX and Kyurem-EX. 5ban Graphics illustrated all of those top cards and 17 cards overall. Value is concentrated, with the top five cards holding 60 percent of the set's total card value.

A complete Next Destinies run is 103 printings, and all 103 are priced. Because the top five cards hold 60 percent of the set's total card value, the weight of a complete set sits on the EX Ultra Rares and the Secret Rares, while the rest of the run, mostly Commons, Uncommons and Rares, carries a much smaller share between them. The sealed line covers 9 products, including a booster box, a booster pack, tins and decks. Deck builders will also find the EX Pokémon here, which is why the Ultra Rares draw most attention.
