Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Black & White era.
Next Destinies reached English-language Pokémon TCG shelves on February 8, 2012, as an expansion in the Black & White era and series, carrying the set code NXD. It lists 99 official cards with 4 secret cards numbered above that count, for 103 catalog printings in all. The set is built around the new EX Pokémon, with Reshiram-EX, Zekrom-EX, Mewtwo-EX and Kyurem-EX among its headline cards, and Kyurem-EX appears in more than one version. Its Pokémon lean on Water, Fire, Lightning and Psychic types, with Arcanine, Chandelure, Growlithe and Lapras each printed twice.
The rarity ladder in Next Destinies runs from commons, uncommons and rares up to 6 Ultra Rare cards and 4 Secret Rare cards, and those 10 chase-tier cards make up the cards worth opening for. The secret rares sit above the printed count of 99. Reshiram-EX leads the most valuable cards, followed by the Secret Rare Zoroark, then Zekrom-EX and Mewtwo-EX. 5ban Graphics illustrated all of these, and also holds the most cards in the set with 17. Value is heavily concentrated, since the top five cards alone account for 60 percent of the set's total card value.

A full run of Next Destinies means 103 printings, and all 103 are priced. Because the top five cards carry 60 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of a complete set depends mostly on a handful of EX and secret rare cards, while the commons, uncommons and rares that fill most of the checklist matter far less. The sealed line includes 9 products, among them tins, decks, a booster box and a booster pack, so the set can be approached through sealed product as well as singles.
