The Black & White expansion reached English-language Pokémon TCG players on April 25, 2011 as the opening release of the Black & White era and series, under set code BLW. It carries 114 printed cards plus 1 secret card above the count, for 115 catalog printings. The Unova debut draws on Colorless, Grass, Fire and Water Pokémon, and it is headlined by the Zekrom and Reshiram Ultra Rares and a Secret Rare Pikachu. Several early Unova Pokémon such as Alomomola, Blitzle, Bouffalant, Darumaka and Dewott appear twice in the card list.
The Black & White chase cards sit in a short ladder: 31 Rares, 2 Ultra Rares and a single Secret Rare numbered past the printed 114. The Secret Rare Pikachu, illustrated by Kouki Saitou, is the most valuable card, followed by the Ultra Rare Zekrom and Ultra Rare Reshiram, both drawn by 5ban Graphics. The regular Rare Reshiram and the Rare Zoroark round out the top five. Value is heavily concentrated, as those top five cards hold 79 percent of the set's total card value.
