The cost of the Generations master set is concentrated, so it helps to know the size of the job first. It takes 183 slots against 117 cards in the set, which is 83 official cards plus 34 secret cards, and each card adds about 1.6 slots on average. Normal prints account for 98 slots, reverse holos for 66 and holos for 19. Laid out nine to a side, the full master set checklist fills 11 double-sided binder pages. Generations is an XY era expansion from the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on February 22, 2016.
The Generations master set is built from three variant families: Normal prints, Reverse Holo prints and Holo prints, with Normal the largest at 98 slots. The reverse holo family comes from the Common, Uncommon and Rare cards, so each of those carries a second slot beyond its standard print. A reverse holo is the same card printed with a holographic finish across the card body rather than only the art window. No stamped or special-edition families appear in this set, so completing the master set is a matter of working through those three finishes.
| Variant family | Slots | Priced | Share of value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 98 | 96 | 61% |
| Reverse Holo | 66 | 66 | 15% |
| Holo | 19 | 19 | 25% |
As of October 24, 2026, 181 of the 183 slots in the Generations master set carry a price, and the value sits heavily at the top. The ten most valuable slots hold 56 percent of the master set's total value, while the lower-value half of the priced slots adds up to only 2 percent. By finish, normal prints hold 60 percent of the total, holos 25 percent and reverse holos 15 percent. In practice the master set cost is decided by a short run of top slots, and the long tail of commons and uncommons barely moves the figure.

A handful of Ultra Rare cards make the Generations master set hard to finish. In value order the leaders are the Normal print of Sylveon EX, the Normal print of Flareon EX, the Holo print of M Charizard EX, the Normal print of Pikachu and the Normal print of M Gardevoir EX. All five are Ultra Rare, and none is a variant slot: each is the card's main print or its standard holo. Together these five slots hold 38 percent of the master set's total value, so most of the effort and spend lands on them.
At 183 slots, the Generations master set is a smaller job than most XY era sets, at 0.9 times the era median of 209 slots. By master set value it ranks 6th among the 14 comparable sets of its era. The neighbouring sets are both larger: BREAKpoint, the previous set, has 222 slots and Fates Collide, the next, has 225, and the master sets of both hold less value than this one. Generations therefore asks for fewer slots than the sets on either side of it while holding more value.

A Generations master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 117 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
