The Forbidden Light master set takes 249 slots, against 146 cards in the set: 131 official cards with 15 secret rares above that count. Each card adds about 1.7 slots on average, because the commons, uncommons and rares also come as reverse holos. Reverse holos fill 102 slots, normal prints 100 and holos 47. Laid out nine to a side, the full run fills 14 double-sided binder pages, a modest job for a Sun & Moon era expansion in the English-language Pokémon TCG, released May 4, 2018.
The Forbidden Light master set checklist is built on four variant families. Reverse Holo is the largest at 102 slots, and it covers the Rare, Uncommon and Common cards, which is where the extra copy of each comes from. Normal prints follow with 99 slots, then Holo with 47. The last is a single stamped slot, the Normal Professor Program print, a stamped variant that sits outside the main run and has to be tracked down separately from the rest of the binder.
| Variant family | Slots | Priced | Share of value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reverse Holo | 102 | 102 | 14% |
| Normal | 99 | 99 | 11% |
| Holo | 47 | 47 | 73% |
| Normal Professor Program | 1 | 1 | 1.8% |
As of October 24, 2026, all 249 slots in the Forbidden Light master set carry a price, and the value is lopsided. The ten most valuable slots hold 44 percent of the total, while the lower-value half of the priced slots adds up to only 3 percent. Holos hold 73 percent of the value despite being the smallest finish by slot count, with reverse holos at 14 percent and normal prints at 13 percent. Condition matters too: an LP and up total sits 20 percent below Near Mint, and an MP and up total sits 34 percent below.

The difficulty in the Forbidden Light master set sits at the very top. The five hardest slots are all Secret Rare holos: Lucario GX, Greninja GX, Dialga GX, Xerneas GX and Zygarde GX, in that value order. None is a variant slot; each is the card's main print, so the weight sits in the secret rare tier rather than in an overlooked reverse holo. Together these five hold 28 percent of the master set's total value, which leaves the rest of the checklist comparatively easy to fill around them.
At 249 slots, the Forbidden Light master set is about 0.9 times the Sun & Moon era median of 292, so it is a somewhat smaller job than most. By master set value it ranks 10th among the 16 comparable sets of its era. The neighbors both run larger: Ultra Prism, the previous set, takes 295 slots and Celestial Storm, the next, takes 317, and each master set holds more value than this one.

A Forbidden Light master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 146 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
