Most Valuable Dragonite Pokemon Cards: A Price Guide
A 2002 Expedition holo rare outprices every Dragonite chase card printed since 2019, including Ascended Heroes' 2026 Special Illustration Rare, on TCGplayer's own dated market data.
Of the ten Dragonite printings priced in this guide, the most valuable by raw TCGplayer market price is the 2002 Expedition Base Set Holo Rare, card 9 of 165. It carried a TCGplayer market price of $949.79 as of September 27, 2026, ahead of every Dragonite chase card printed since 2019, including the Special Illustration Rare from 2026's Ascended Heroes.
A wider TCGplayer search of Dragonite cards turned up only one card showing a higher figure on the same read: the staff-stamped 2/146 National Championships promo at $997.00, which had no live listings at the time.
That ranking cuts against what the rarity labels alone would predict. Expedition's Dragonite is a plain Holo Rare by TCGplayer's rarity label. Three of the cards below it carry Special Illustration Rare, Mega Hyper Rare, or Secret Rare labels, chase tiers within their own sets.
This guide prices ten Dragonite printings spanning 1999 to 2026 using TCGplayer's published market data. Every figure below is a raw, ungraded market price dated September 27, 2026.
Dragonite, Holo Rare, Expedition Base Set (2002). TCGplayer market price $949.79 as of September 27, 2026, the highest raw price of any Dragonite printing in this guide.
Ten Dragonite printings, priced
Ranked highest to lowest, these are the ten Dragonite printings this guide covers, each priced as a raw TCGplayer market read. The list is a selection, not TCGplayer's full Dragonite catalog; higher-priced cards it leaves out are named in the last section.

TCGplayer market price, read September 27, 2026.
The spread runs from $1.56 to $949.79, a range of roughly 609 times between the cheapest and most expensive printing in the lineup.
Vintage still beats brand-new
Ascended Heroes released on January 30, 2026, less than eight months before this read. Its Special Illustration Rare Mega Dragonite ex still trades below the 24-year-old Expedition Holo Rare, $542.16 against $949.79.
The gap is not small. Expedition's Dragonite carries a 75 percent premium over Ascended Heroes' Special Illustration Rare, and an 84 percent premium over Evolving Skies' 2021 alternate-art Ultra Rare, the next two highest cards in this guide.
No Tier-1 population figure was available for any of these three cards on this read, so a supply-based explanation cannot be confirmed here. What the price data shows is narrower and firmer: age and a plain rarity label are not, by themselves, a ceiling on a card's price, and a brand-new Special Illustration Rare is not automatically the most valuable printing of a given Pokemon.
Mega Dragonite ex, Special Illustration Rare, Ascended Heroes (2026). TCGplayer market price $542.16 as of September 27, 2026, the highest-priced 2026 Dragonite card in this guide but still below the 2002 Expedition Holo Rare.
Same set, same Pokemon, different art
Evolving Skies printed two full-art Dragonite V cards that TCGplayer lists at the same rarity, Ultra Rare. The listings differ in art treatment: a standard full art versus an alternate full art.
The alternate full art, 192/203, carried a TCGplayer market price of $515.55 as of September 27, 2026. The standard full art, 191/203, carried $38.60 on the same read, about 7.5 percent of the alternate print's price.
That is roughly a 13-fold gap between two cards that share a set, a Pokemon, a release date, and a rarity label. The price data cannot say why buyers pay the gap, but apart from the card number, the art treatment is the only difference between the two listings.
Ascended Heroes: Mega Dragonite by rarity
Ascended Heroes prints Mega Dragonite ex at several rarities within a single set. Three of them are priced here; a fourth, the Double Rare 152/217, sits outside this guide's ten.
Mega Dragonite ex by rarity, Ascended Heroes (2026)
Mega Attack Rare33.33USD
Mega Hyper Rare214.72USD
Special Illustration Rare542.16USD
TCGplayer market price, read September 27, 2026.
Each step up the ladder roughly multiplies the price: the Mega Hyper Rare trades at about 6.4 times the 271/217 print, which TCGplayer lists as a Mega Attack Rare, and the Special Illustration Rare trades at about 2.5 times the Mega Hyper Rare. Less than eight months after release, the three prints already sit far apart on price.
The two cheapest printings in this guide
Not every Dragonite printing is a chase card. The two least expensive cards in this guide both come from 2023, and neither is a secret, illustration, or hyper rare print.
Scarlet & Violet 151, 149/165, Rare: $1.56 raw, an ordinary numbered-set Rare, not a secret or illustration card.
Obsidian Flames, 159/197, Double Rare: $3.73 raw, a step above a plain Rare, but numbered inside the main set rather than among its secret prints.
Both cards sit far below every other figure in this guide. Since every card in the lineup depicts the same Pokemon, the $1.56 to $949.79 range reflects print tier, card treatment, and era rather than the Pokemon itself.
What this guide doesn't price
A few gaps are worth stating rather than smoothing over. PSA's Population Report could not be read from a Tier-1 source this pass, so no PSA 9 or PSA 10 population figure appears anywhere above. No independently confirmed public auction-house realized price for a graded Dragonite card was found either.
The ten-card ranking is also a selection rather than a full census. On the same September 27 TCGplayer read, several Dragonite cards outside it carried higher market prices than some ranked cards:
Neo Destiny, Light Dragonite: $699.99
EX Dragon, Dragonite ex: $487.34
EX Dragon Frontiers, Dragonite ex (Delta Species): $471.92
Fossil, Dragonite 1st Edition holo: $471.75
Team Rocket, Dark Dragonite: $414.60
EX Delta Species, Dragonite: $377.19
2/146 National Championships promo: $308.65
Every card on that list also prices above the Fossil Unlimited holo. The staff-stamped version of the 2/146 promo showed $997.00, the only Dragonite figure above the Expedition holo, but with no live listings behind it.
Every number in this guide is a raw, ungraded market price. Graded copies run on separate supply and separate demand, and a raw price should not be used to estimate what a slabbed copy of the same card would cost, in either direction.
Prices also move. Every figure here is a single dated read from September 27, 2026, not a trend line, and the ranking above reflects the market on that date.
Collectors comparing Dragonite against the WOTC era or the Scarlet and Violet era can check whether the same print-tier pattern holds for other Pokemon; this guide measures Dragonite only. Set-by-set value guides cover the rest of the catalog on the same basis.
Among the ten printings priced in this guide, the 2002 Expedition Base Set Holo Rare, 9/165, is highest, with a TCGplayer market price of $949.79 as of September 27, 2026. A wider TCGplayer search found one Dragonite card showing a higher figure on the same read, the staff-stamped 2/146 National Championships promo at $997.00, which had no live listings at the time.
Does Ascended Heroes' new Mega Dragonite ex outprice the vintage Expedition card?
No. The Ascended Heroes Special Illustration Rare, released January 30, 2026, carried a TCGplayer market price of $542.16 as of September 27, 2026, about 57 percent of the Expedition Holo Rare's $949.79 on the same read.
Which Evolving Skies Dragonite V costs more, the full art or the alternate full art?
The alternate full art, 192/203, carried a TCGplayer market price of $515.55 as of September 27, 2026. The standard full art, 191/203, carried $38.60 on the same read, about one thirteenth of the alternate print's price, even though both cards share the same set, rarity label, and release date.
What is the least expensive Dragonite card in this guide?
Dragonite 149/165 from Scarlet & Violet 151, a plain numbered-set Rare, carried a TCGplayer market price of $1.56 as of September 27, 2026. That is the lowest figure among the ten printings priced here.
How much does the 1999 Fossil Dragonite cost raw?
An Unlimited holofoil Fossil Dragonite, 4/62, carried a TCGplayer market price of $189.66 on September 27, 2026 data, fifth among the ten printings ranked here and below three chase cards released decades later. The 1st Edition holofoil of the same card carried $471.75 on the same date.
Does this guide include PSA 10 graded prices for Dragonite?
No. PSA's Population Report could not be read from a Tier-1 source this pass, and no independently confirmed graded sale price was found either, so every figure in this guide is a raw, ungraded market price.

Most Valuable Pokemon Cards by Decade: 1990s Through 2020s
This guide ranks Pokemon cards by decade with two separate lenses: Cardboard Alpha's raw Near Mint evaluated prices for English printings on October 13, 2026, and the highest auction sale found for each decade at Heritage, Goldin and Fanatics Collect. It names the leader of the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s on each lens, adds sale-based PSA 10 prices for the 2010s and 2020s, and shows why the two answers differ.
