Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 231/182 leads Destined Rivals at $328.20 on Cardboard Alpha's October 20, 2026 evaluated prices, and the 11 Special Illustration Rares hold 66.8 percent of a $1,392.14 one-of-each run.
Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 231/182, the Special Illustration Rare, is the most valuable card in Destined Rivals. Cardboard Alpha's evaluated price for a raw Near Mint copy was $328.20 on October 20, 2026, with Cynthia's Garchomp ex 232/182 next at $175.82 and Ethan's Ho-Oh ex 230/182 third at $135.35.

Every price here is Cardboard Alpha's evaluated Near Mint price for October 20, 2026: one daily number per card, built from the best evidence available that day. It can differ from marketplace prices, and the and quote TCGplayer's late-September market price, which lists this card higher.
Destined Rivals released in English on May 30, 2025. The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) announced it on March 24, 2025 as a Scarlet & Violet set built on Trainer's Pokémon cards, with Team Rocket and Mewtwo ex set against duos such as Ethan and Ho-Oh ex or Cynthia and Garchomp ex.
TCGdex and Cardboard Alpha's catalog list 244 cards, 182 numbered and 62 secret. TPCi counted 83 cards tagged Team Rocket's, matching the 83 catalog cards with that name, and 17 Pokémon ex, 10 of them Trainer's Pokémon ex.
Numbered 1 to 182: 85 Commons, 62 Uncommons, 18 Rares and 17 Double Rares.
Ultra Rares: 22 full-art cards, 14 Pokémon ex and 8 Trainers.
Illustration Rares: 23 full-card alternate arts of non-ex Pokémon.
Special Illustration Rares: 11 alternate-art cards, 8 Pokémon ex and 3 Trainers.
Hyper Rares: 6 gold-framed cards, 4 Pokémon ex and 2 Trainers.
TPCi lists booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and collections, and the catalog tracks 25 English sealed products, among them a booster box, a Booster Bundle and a Build & Battle Box. TCGplayer's Authentication Center opened more than 8,000 packs before release and places Double Rares and Ultra Rares in the Rare slot, with Illustration, Special Illustration and Hyper Rares in a second reverse-holo slot.
TCGplayer found the rates in line with Journey Together's, but with twice as many secret rares any specific one is about half as likely. How pull-rate odds work covers the method, and what each rarity symbol means covers the tiers.
The 15 most valuable cards
Every figure is Cardboard Alpha's evaluated price, raw Near Mint, on October 20, 2026. A card's main print is its non-holo version for Commons and Uncommons and its holo version for Rares and above; reverse holos are priced separately.
Every card in the top 15 is named for a Trainer or for Team Rocket, six of them for Team Rocket. The first card that is not is Yanmega ex 228/182, 18th at $15.07.

Cardboard Alpha evaluated prices, raw Near Mint, October 20, 2026; medians round half up. Odds are TCGplayer's per-pack estimates for one named card (n/a: none published).
TCGplayer's odds assume each card in a rarity is printed equally, and for the rarest tiers the margin is plus or minus 0.07 points on estimates near 0.10 percent. They do not set the order: the ranges for Illustration Rares and Ultra Rares overlap, as do those for Hyper Rares and Special Illustration Rares, yet the medians differ by 1.8 and 3.0 times.
The Trainer's Pokémon chase
Four Pokémon have a Double Rare, an Ultra Rare, a Hyper Rare and a Special Illustration Rare each, which isolates what the print alone does to price.

Cardboard Alpha evaluated prices, raw Near Mint, October 20, 2026. Card numbers in parentheses.
For Mewtwo, Garchomp and Ho-Oh the Special Illustration Rare costs 157 to 178 times the Double Rare and 6.9 to 7.1 times the Hyper Rare, while Crobat's multiple over its Hyper Rare is 4.0. Mewtwo's four prints total $393.63, 28.3 percent of the set.
Special Illustration Rare. Evaluated price, raw NM, $135.35 on October 20, 2026.
By name, cards called Team Rocket's hold $736.29, 52.9 percent of the set, followed by Cynthia's 13 cards at 15.7 percent, Ethan's 16 at 15.5 percent and Misty's 8 at 4.9 percent.
Illustration Rares and Hyper Rares
On October 20, 2026 the 23 Illustration Rares totaled $209.69, 15.1 percent of the set. Misty's Psyduck 193/182 led at $46.94 on 12 same-day sales, six cents below Team Rocket's Crobat ex 234/182 and above five of the 11 Special Illustration Rares, even though TCGplayer puts a specific Illustration Rare at about 1 in 278 packs and a specific Special Illustration Rare at 1 in 1,033.
Special Illustration Rare. Evaluated price, raw NM, $47.00 on October 20, 2026.
Only six Illustration Rares reach $10.00. After Psyduck come Misty's Lapras at $19.99, Ethan's Typhlosion at $18.28 and Team Rocket's Meowth at $16.75.
The six Hyper Rares total $115.45, 8.3 percent. Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 240/182 leads at $45.92, and the two Trainer Hyper Rares, Levincia and Jamming Tower, sit at $6.73 and $6.35. Each of the four Hyper Rare Pokémon costs far less than its Special Illustration Rare, yet TCGplayer puts a specific Hyper Rare at about 1 in 894 packs against 1 in 1,033, so pull rate does not explain the gap.
Hyper Rare. Evaluated price, raw NM, $45.92 on October 20, 2026.
Numbered cards and reverse holos
The 182 numbered cards total $54.01, 3.9 percent of the set, with a median of $0.21. Only six reach $1.00, led by the Double Rare Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 081/182 at $1.89. All 62 secret cards price at $1.03 or more and hold the other 96.1 percent.
Double Rare. Evaluated price, raw NM, $1.89 on October 20, 2026, the top numbered card.
The 165 reverse holo prints add $56.23, a median of $0.31 each, taking every standard finish to $1,448.37. The Destined Rivals master set tracker prices each variant.
Against other Scarlet & Violet sets
Measured the same way, one copy of every Destined Rivals card costs 3.6 times a Journey Together run, 1.3 times Surging Sparks and 35 percent of Prismatic Evolutions, whose October 3 value guide uses earlier prices.

Cardboard Alpha evaluated prices, raw Near Mint, one main print per card, October 20, 2026.
How these prices were formed
Of the 244 main-print prices, 69 include at least one recorded same-day sale and hold 95.0 percent of the value. Another 9 are the midpoint of that day's sold low and high. The other 166 rest on asking prices, a quoted marketplace guide, a prior evaluation or, for one Common, a sale reported second-hand, and total $68.87, 4.9 percent.
Mewtwo's $328.20 blends two same-day sales with a recency-weighted 30-day sales median and the best asking price. The 40 priciest cards, down to $3.89, all include a same-day sale; the first without one is Team Rocket's Ariana 224/182 in 41st.
What this guide leaves out
Graded copies: Prices are raw Near Mint only, so no PSA, CGC or Beckett price or population count appears.
Sealed product: No sealed price is quoted.
Stamped and special foils: The catalog lists 26 other variants, among them set-logo, league and deck-exclusive stamps and cosmos holo prints. None is in any total.
One date, English only: Every price is a single October 20, 2026 read, not a trend.
Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex 231/182, the Special Illustration Rare. Cardboard Alpha's evaluated price for a raw Near Mint copy was $328.20 on October 20, 2026, about 1.9 times Cynthia's Garchomp ex 232/182 at $175.82, and it alone is 23.6 percent of the set's $1,392.14 one-of-each cost. Only three cards, those two and Ethan's Ho-Oh ex 230/182 at $135.35, reached $100.00.
How much does a complete Destined Rivals set cost?
One raw Near Mint copy of each of the 244 cards came to $1,392.14 on Cardboard Alpha's October 20, 2026 evaluated prices. Adding the 165 reverse holo prints brings it to $1,448.37. Stamped, special-foil and other catalog variants are not in either figure.
How hard is it to pull Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex from a Destined Rivals pack?
TCGplayer's Authentication Center opened more than 8,000 packs before release and found a Special Illustration Rare in about 1 in 94 packs. For one named card, such as Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex, it estimates about 0.10 percent per pack, roughly 1 in 1,033, with a margin of plus or minus 0.07 points. That estimate assumes all 11 Special Illustration Rares are printed in equal numbers.
Are Destined Rivals Hyper Rares worth more than the Special Illustration Rares?
Usually not. For the same Pokémon the Hyper Rare was cheaper on October 20, 2026: Team Rocket's Mewtwo ex $45.92 against $328.20, Cynthia's Garchomp ex $25.21 against $175.82, Ethan's Ho-Oh ex $19.59 against $135.35 and Team Rocket's Crobat ex $11.65 against $47.00. TCGplayer's estimates for one named card in each tier, about 1 in 894 and 1 in 1,033 packs, fall within each other's margins of error.
How does Destined Rivals compare with other recent Scarlet & Violet sets?
On October 20, 2026 a one-of-each run of Destined Rivals cost $1,392.14, which is 3.6 times Journey Together's $391.10 and 1.3 times Surging Sparks' $1,086.77, but 35 percent of Prismatic Evolutions' $3,942.09. Black Bolt and White Flare came to $3,090.85 and $2,768.80. Each figure counts one main print per card.
Does this guide include graded or sealed prices?
No. Every figure is a raw Near Mint evaluated price, so no PSA, CGC or Beckett price or population count appears and no sealed product is priced. The Pokémon Company International lists booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and collections as the set's launch products.
