Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the XY era.
Primal Clash sits in the middle of the XY era as an expansion, released on February 4, 2015 under the set code PRC. It carries 160 official cards plus 4 secret cards above that count, for 164 printings in all. The set is built around the Primal Reversion mechanic's headline cards, with Primal Kyogre EX and Primal Groudon EX at the top of the value list alongside the regular Kyogre EX and Groudon EX. Water, Grass, Fighting and Colorless Pokémon make up most of the card list, and several names such as Aggron EX and Azumarill appear in more than one version.
Primal Clash has a plain rarity ladder: uncommons, rares and commons fill the bulk of the set, while 28 Ultra Rares and 4 Secret Rares make up the 32 chase-tier cards, with the secrets numbered past the printed 160. The most valuable cards are Primal Kyogre EX, Primal Groudon EX, Kyogre EX and Groudon EX, all Ultra Rares, with M Gardevoir EX close behind. 5ban Graphics illustrated each of those top cards, and the top five cards alone hold 52 percent of the set's total card value, so the chase cards carry most of the worth.

A full Primal Clash card list runs to 164 printings, and all 164 are priced. Because over half the set's value sits in five cards, the cost of a complete set depends mostly on the Primal and standard Kyogre EX and Groudon EX cards, while the many commons, uncommons and rares round out the run cheaply by comparison. The sealed line includes 18 products, among them a booster box, a booster case, Elite Trainer Boxes, tins, blisters and decks, so the set's packs can be tracked in several formats.
