Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the EX era.
POP Series 1 sits in the EX era of the English-language Pokémon TCG as a promotional collection, the opening entry of the POP series under set code P1. Its release date was September 1, 2004, and the card list runs to 17 cards, all of them printed in the main numbering with no secrets above the count. The run is built around a roster of EX-era Pokémon, with Rayquaza, Tyranitar ex and Armaldo ex among its headline cards, and it leans on Fighting, Grass, Colorless and Darkness types.
POP Series 1 has no secret tier. Its rarity structure is plain: 7 Rares, 5 Uncommons and 5 Commons, and the value sits almost entirely in the Rares. Rayquaza, illustrated by Katsura Tabata, ranks first among the most valuable cards, followed by Tyranitar ex, Armaldo ex and Swampert, all Rares. The top five cards alone hold 82 percent of the set's total card value, so the rest of the card list adds little to the whole. Murkrow, an Uncommon by Ken Sugimori, is the only non-Rare to reach the top eight.
POP Series 1 was released September 1, 2004.
POP Series 1 has 17 cards.
POP Series 1 is part of the EX era.
As of October 2026, POP Series 1 holds the 5th highest total card value of the 10 comparable EX-era sets, about 1.2 times the era median, and ranks 17th across the whole game. Its single most valuable card ranks 4th in the era, and it places 3rd for trading activity. At 17 printed cards it is about the same size as the era median of 17. It followed Poké Card Creator Pack, and it came before POP Series 2, which holds lower total value. Eleven of its cards first appeared in the Japanese PCG-P Promotional cards, released February 1, 2004.

Completing POP Series 1 means finding all 17 catalog printings, and every one of them is priced. Because the top five cards carry 82 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of a full run is set mostly by the Rayquaza, Tyranitar ex, Armaldo ex, Swampert and Blaziken Rares, while the Commons and Uncommons fill in cheaply around them. On the sealed side, the page lists a single product, filed under other sealed, rather than a booster box line.
