Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the WOTC era.
Jungle sits in the WOTC era of the English-language Pokémon TCG as an expansion in the Base series, released on June 16, 1999 under the set code JU. It followed the original Base Set and runs to 64 cards, with the same 64 printings in the catalog. The card list leans on Grass, Colorless, Fighting and Lightning Pokémon, and several names appear twice in the run, among them Clefable, Electrode, Flareon, Jolteon and Kangaskhan. Snorlax, Flareon and Jolteon head the most valuable cards.
Jungle's rarity ladder is short: 16 commons, 16 uncommons and 32 rares, and every rare counts as chase tier, so there are no secret cards above the printed 64. Snorlax leads the most valuable cards, illustrated by Ken Sugimori, followed by Flareon and Jolteon, both by Kagemaru Himeno, then Scyther. All of them are rares. The top five cards hold 44 percent of the set's total card value, a fairly even spread, so Jungle's chase cards are a broad group of rares rather than one or two standouts.

As of October 2026, Jungle ranks 12th by total card value among the 17 comparable WOTC sets, at about 0.7 times the era median, and 47th across the whole game. Its single most valuable card ranks 16th in the era, while trading activity places it 9th. At 64 printed cards it is smaller than the era median of 110. It came after Base Set, which holds more total value, and before Fossil, which holds less.
Completing Jungle means finding 64 printings, all 64 of which are priced. Because the top five cards carry 44 percent of the set's total card value and the remaining rares add to it, the cost of a full run depends on the whole rare slot rather than a few cards. The sealed line lists 6 products, spanning booster boxes, booster packs and decks.
