Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the EX era.
Holon Phantoms sits late in the EX era of the English-language Pokémon TCG, an expansion that arrived on May 3, 2006 under the set code HP. It lists 110 official cards plus one secret card above that count, for 111 printings in all. What defines it is the delta species mechanic carried over from its predecessors: Deoxys δ appears four times, and Latias δ, Latios δ and Rayquaza δ each show up twice alongside Corphish. The set leans on Metal, Fire, Lightning and Fighting Pokémon, and its headline cards are the Star cards, led by Mewtwo Star and Pikachu Star.
The rarity ladder in Holon Phantoms is shallow, with 50 Rares above 30 Uncommons and 31 Commons, so the chase lives in which Rares turn up and in the single secret card numbered past the printed 110. Mewtwo Star leads the card list, followed by Pikachu Star, with Gyarados ☆ δ in third and Rayquaza δ and Mew ex rounding out the top five. Masakazu Fukuda illustrated the first three of those, and he accounts for 14 cards in the set. The top five cards alone hold 86 percent of the set's total card value, so the rest of the run is comparatively inexpensive.
Holon Phantoms was released May 3, 2006.
Holon Phantoms has 111 cards.
Holon Phantoms is part of the EX era.
As of October 2026, Holon Phantoms holds the 2nd highest total card value of the 16 comparable EX sets, about 2.8 times the era median, and it ranks 4th across all 130 sets in the game. Its Mewtwo Star is the most valuable single card in the era, and it also leads the era in trading activity. At 110 printed cards it is about the same size as the era median of 107. It followed Legend Maker, which holds less total value, and came before Crystal Guardians, which also holds less. Its cards first appeared in the Japanese set Holon Phantom, released January 27, 2006, which shares 46 cards with it.

Completing Holon Phantoms means tracking 111 printings, and all 111 are priced. Because the top five cards carry 86 percent of the set's total card value, the cost of a complete set is driven almost entirely by the Star cards and a few delta Rares, while the Commons and Uncommons fill in cheaply. The sealed line has four products: a booster box, a booster pack and two decks. Deck builders working with the set will find its Metal, Fire, Lightning and Fighting Pokémon spread across that Rare-heavy structure.
