Variants are what stretch the FireRed & LeafGreen master set from 116 cards to 276 slots, an average of 2.4 slots per card. The set lists 112 official cards with 4 secret rares above that count, and the slots split into 137 normal prints, 104 reverse holos and 35 holos. Laid out nine to a side, the full run fills 16 double-sided binder pages. It is a mid-sized job for an EX era expansion in the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on September 1, 2004.
Most of the FireRed & LeafGreen master set checklist comes from three plain families: 110 Normal slots, 103 Reverse Holo slots and 30 Holo slots. Reverse holos are not limited to rares, since commons, uncommons and rares all carry one, which is why that family nearly matches the normal prints. The remainder are named variants, with Normal Hiroki Yano and Normal Jeremy Maron at 6 slots each, Normal Jimmy Ballard and Normal Takashi Yoneda at 4 each, and a small Holo Jeremy Maron group of 2. Each of these is its own binder slot, separate from the card's regular print.

The FireRed & LeafGreen master set cost is concentrated at the top. As of October 24, 2026, 273 of the 276 slots carry a price, and the ten most valuable slots hold 35 percent of the total, while the lower-value half of priced slots together account for just 5 percent. By finish, holos hold 42 percent of the value and reverse holos 41 percent, leaving normal prints 17 percent. Condition matters too: a master set built to the MP and up standard totals 39 percent below the Near Mint total, so condition standards move the cost far more than the long tail of cards does.

The five hardest slots in the FireRed & LeafGreen master set hold 25 percent of its total value, and all are Rare cards. The holo Gengar ex ranks first, followed by the holo Blastoise ex, then the holo Charizard ex and the holo Venusaur ex. The surprise is the second slot: the Blastoise ex holo is a variant slot rather than the card's main print, so it sits among the set's top-value slots as a variant. The normal Blastoise ex rounds out the five at fifth.
At 276 slots, the FireRed & LeafGreen master set is about 1.2 times the EX era median of 234, making it a moderately larger job than the typical set of its era. By master set value it ranks 10th among the 16 comparable sets in the era. Its neighbors differ in size and value: Hidden Legends comes in at 240 slots with a lower-value master set, while Team Rocket Returns has 256 slots and a higher-value one. Of the three, FireRed & LeafGreen asks for the most binder space.

A FireRed & LeafGreen master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 116 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
