Emerging Powers is the English-language Pokémon TCG expansion released on August 31, 2011, sitting in the Black & White era and series under the set code EP. It runs 98 cards, a compact release by the standards of its era. The set leans on Grass, Fighting, Colorless and Psychic Pokémon, and it prints several Unova species twice across different rarities, including Basculin, Beartic, Boldore, Cottonee and Cubchoo. Its headline cards are the Ultra Rare Thundurus and Tornadus, which anchor the card list and the market around it.
The pull ladder in Emerging Powers is short: commons, uncommons and rares make up nearly all of the 98 cards, and only two Ultra Rares sit at the top. Those are Thundurus and Tornadus, both illustrated by 5ban Graphics, and they rank as the most valuable cards in the set. Behind them come the Rare Unfezant by kawayoo, the Rare Zoroark by Shin Nagasawa and a second Thundurus, a Rare printing. The top five cards hold 51 percent of the set's total card value, so a little over half of the value sits in five slots.
