Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Sword & Shield era.
Vivid Voltage is a Sword & Shield era expansion from the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on November 13, 2020 under the set code VIV. The release card list runs to 185 official cards, with 18 secret cards numbered above that count, for 203 printings in all. It leans on Grass, Fighting, Lightning and Metal Pokémon, and it prints several Trainer names more than once: Allister, Bea, Beauty, Leon and Nessa each appear in three versions. Its headline cards are Pikachu VMAX and Pikachu V, which lead the set by value.
The pull ladder in Vivid Voltage climbs from commons and uncommons through Holo Rare, Holo Rare V and Holo Rare VMAX to Ultra Rare, Amazing Rare and Secret Rare, with 61 chase-tier cards in all. The 18 secret rares are numbered past the printed 185. Pikachu VMAX in Secret Rare, illustrated by aky CG Works, is the most valuable card, followed by the Ultra Rare Pikachu V, the Amazing Rare Rayquaza and the Ultra Rare Pokémon Center Lady. The top five cards hold 53 percent of the set's total card value, so a few chase cards carry much of what the card list is worth.

It trades at 7th for activity in the era, and 114th for total value across the whole game. At 185 official cards it is about the same size as the era median of 189. It followed Champion's Path, which holds similar total value, and came before Shining Fates, which holds less. Its cards first appeared in Japan across Amazing Volt Tackle, released September 18, 2020, and S3a, released July 10, 2020.

A complete Vivid Voltage run is 203 printings, and all 203 are priced. Because the top five cards hold 53 percent of the set's total card value, the value of a full set sits mostly in that handful of chase cards, while the commons, uncommons and plain rares make up the bulk of the card count but little of the value. Anyone chasing the Pikachu cards and the secret rares is working at the narrow top of the list. The sealed line comprises 27 products, including a booster box, Elite Trainer Boxes, blisters, booster packs, Build & Battle Boxes and decks.
