Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Sword & Shield era.
Vivid Voltage is an expansion in the Sword & Shield era of the English-language Pokémon TCG, released on November 13, 2020 under the set code VIV. It carries 185 official cards, with 18 secret cards numbered above that count. The set leans on Grass, Fighting, Lightning and Metal Pokémon, and it gives several Trainer characters, including Allister, Bea, Beauty, Leon and Nessa, more than one printing each. Its headline cards are Pikachu VMAX and Pikachu V, which sit at the top of the card list by value.
The Vivid Voltage chase cards are spread across five tiers: Ultra Rare, Secret Rare, Holo Rare V, Amazing Rare and Holo Rare VMAX, 61 cards in all, with the secret rares numbered past the printed 185. The secret Pikachu VMAX illustrated by aky CG Works leads the most valuable cards, followed by the Ultra Rare Pikachu V, the Amazing Rare Rayquaza and the Ultra Rare Pokémon Center Lady. Togekiss VMAX rounds out the top five. Those five cards hold 53 percent of the set's total card value, so a few pulls carry much of what this set is worth.
Vivid Voltage was released November 13, 2020.

As of October 2026, Vivid Voltage holds the 11th highest total card value of the 17 comparable Sword & Shield sets, about equal to the era median, and its top card ranks 10th among the era's single most valuable cards. It ranks 7th for trading activity in the era and 114th for total card value across the whole game. At 185 printed cards it is about the same size as the era median of 189. It followed Champion's Path, which holds similar total value, and came before Shining Fates, which holds less. Its cards first appeared in Japan in Amazing Volt Tackle and the earlier Heartbeat set.

A full Vivid Voltage run is 203 printings, and all 203 are priced. Because over half of the set's value sits in five cards, the cost of a complete set depends mostly on those few Pikachu, Rayquaza and Togekiss cards rather than the commons and uncommons that fill most of the list. The sealed line has 27 products, mainly blisters, booster packs and Elite Trainer Boxes, along with a booster box, booster cases, Build & Battle Boxes and decks.
