Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Sun & Moon era.
Ultra Prism sits in the middle of the Sun & Moon era, an expansion released on February 2, 2018 with the set code UPR. It follows Crimson Invasion and precedes Forbidden Light. The official count is 156 cards, with 17 secret cards numbered above it. Several Pokémon-GX appear in more than one version, including Dawn Wings Necrozma GX, Dusk Mane Necrozma GX, Dialga GX, Glaceon GX and Leafeon GX, each printed three times. The set leans on Grass, Metal, Water and Colorless Pokémon, and its most valuable cards are Trainer and Supporter ultra rares rather than Pokémon.
The Ultra Prism card list climbs from commons through uncommons and rares to 42 chase-tier cards, split between 25 ultra rares and 17 secret rares that run past the printed 156. Lillie, an ultra rare illustrated by Naoki Saito, is the most valuable card, followed by Cynthia from nagimiso and Lusamine from You Iribi. Leafeon GX, a secret rare by 5ban Graphics, ranks 4th, with Darkrai ◇ close behind. The top five cards hold 44 percent of the set's total card value, so the leading cards carry a large share of the whole, though not an overwhelming one.
Ultra Prism was released February 2, 2018.

Its single most valuable card also ranks 6th in the era, while trading activity places it 12th. At 156 printed cards it is about the same size as the era median of 148. Crimson Invasion before it and Forbidden Light after it both hold less total value. In Japan, 48 of its cards first appeared in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, released December 8, 2017.

Completing Ultra Prism means gathering all 173 catalog printings, and every one of them is priced. Because the top five cards hold 44 percent of total value, the Trainer ultra rares and the leading secret rares account for much of what a complete set is worth, while the long run of commons, uncommons and rares contributes a much smaller share. The sealed line is broad, 21 products in all, including the booster box, Elite Trainer Boxes, tins, blisters, decks and a collection box. The 17 secret rares are the cards that stretch a master set past the printed count.
