Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the Sun & Moon era.
Ultra Prism sits in the middle of the Sun & Moon era as an English-language expansion in the Sun & Moon series, released on February 2, 2018 under the set code UPR. It carries 156 official cards plus 17 secret cards, for 173 catalog printings in all. The set is built around multi-version GX Pokémon: Dawn Wings Necrozma GX, Dusk Mane Necrozma GX, Dialga GX, Glaceon GX and Leafeon GX each appear three times. Grass, Metal, Water and Colorless Pokémon make up its type lean, and the most valuable cards in the card list are Trainer Ultra Rares led by Lillie, Cynthia and Lusamine.
The Ultra Prism pull ladder runs from commons, uncommons and rares up through 25 Ultra Rares and 17 Secret Rares, which number past the printed 156 and bring the chase tier to 42 cards. The most valuable cards are Trainer-heavy: Lillie leads, followed by Cynthia and Lusamine, all Ultra Rares illustrated by Naoki Saito, nagimiso and You Iribi respectively. The Secret Rare Leafeon GX by 5ban Graphics ranks 4th. The top five cards hold 44 percent of the set's total card value, a meaningful concentration but one spread across several cards rather than resting on a single pull.
Ultra Prism was released February 2, 2018.

Completing Ultra Prism means tracking down 173 printings, and all 173 are priced. Because the top five cards hold 44 percent of total value and the leaders are Trainer Ultra Rares rather than Pokémon, the cost of a complete set depends heavily on a few Supporter cards, while the bulk of the commons, uncommons and rares matter far less. The set also has 21 sealed products, mainly blisters, tins, an Elite Trainer Box and a booster box, alongside booster packs, decks and a collection box.
