The variants are what stretch the Sandstorm master set: 220 slots from a set of 100 cards, or about 2.2 slots per card, because the reverse holo run and several print variants sit alongside the standard cards. Normal prints account for 102 slots, reverse holos for 93 and holos for 25. The full run fills 13 double-sided binder pages at nine cards a side, a modest project for an EX era expansion released in the English-language Pokémon TCG on September 18, 2003.
Reverse Holo is the largest family in the Sandstorm master set at 93 slots, and it spans Common, Uncommon, Holo Rare and Rare cards, so the reverse holo run is close to a second copy of most of the set. Normal follows with 79 slots and Holo with 21. The remaining slots are small Normal families named for individuals, Reed Weichler with 5, Kevin Nguyen with 4, and Chris Fulop and Michael Gonzalez with 3 each, plus a few more Normal slots set apart by a print marking. Each of these takes its own binder slot.

Most of the Sandstorm master set cost sits in a small group of slots. The ten most valuable slots hold 39 percent of the total, while the lower-value half of the priced slots holds only 6 percent. By finish, reverse holos carry 53 percent of the value, holos 40 percent and normal prints just 7 percent, so the reverse holo run matters more here than the holo rares. As of October 24, 2026, 213 of the 220 slots carry a price. An LP and up master set total sits 31 percent below the Near Mint total, and an MP and up total sits 45 percent below.

Shares of the master set’s priced value, from the slot prices in the checklist above.
The hardest slot in the Sandstorm master set is not a rare. The Psyduck reverse holo, a Common, ranks first by value, ahead of the Raichu ex, Gardevoir ex and Typhlosion ex holos, which are all Rare. The Arcanine reverse holo, another Rare variant, ranks 5th. Two of these five slots are reverse holos rather than a card's main print, which is the kind of slot that catches master set collectors off guard. Together the five hold 25 percent of the master set's total value.
At 220 slots, the Sandstorm master set is about equal to the EX era median of 234 slots, so it is an average-sized job for its era. By master set value it ranks 15th of 16 comparable EX era sets, near the lower end. Ruby & Sapphire before it is larger at 280 slots, with a master set of similar value. Dragon after it is smaller at 200 slots, yet its master set holds higher value, so fewer slots does not mean a lighter total in this stretch of the era.

A Sandstorm master set is one copy of every card AND every variant in the set — the 100 cards on this page, with their Normal, Reverse Holo and Holo prints each listed and priced on their own. Sign in and the checklist tracks what you own, in step with the Cardboard Alpha app.
The large NM-only figure is a complete catalog estimate when every printing has current NM pricing. LP, MP, HP, and DMG “and up” totals below it use the requested condition or a better available condition. These are summed reference prices, not a quote from one seller; a dash means the current market does not cover every printing yet.
“LP and up” means lightly played or better: the total uses LP when available, then NM as the better-condition fallback. The MP, HP, and DMG tiers follow the same pattern.
