Release date, card count, chase cards and how it compares with the EX era.
POP Series 5 is a promotional run from the EX era of the English-language Pokémon TCG, released March 1, 2007 under the set code P5. The release comes first because it sets the timeline: it landed between the 2007 Basic Energy printing and the long DP Black Star Promos run. It is a compact promo collection of 17 cards, all of them printed at common, uncommon or rare tier. Espeon ★, Mew δ and Lugia are its headline cards, and the checklist leans on Lightning, Darkness, Fire and Metal Pokémon, with delta species cards sitting alongside the standard ones.
POP Series 5 has no secret cards above its printed 17, and none of its rarities are tiered as chase. The pull ladder is simply six commons, five uncommons and six rares, so the rares carry the interest. Espeon ★ leads the card list by value, with Mew δ in 2nd and Lugia in 3rd, followed by Charmeleon δ and the common Pikachu. Masakazu Fukuda illustrated the top two, and Mitsuhiro Arita drew Lugia and Charmeleon δ, with six cards in the set overall. Value is extremely concentrated: the top five cards hold 91 percent of the set's total card value, so the rest of the checklist is largely filler by comparison.
POP Series 5 was released March 1, 2007.
POP Series 5 has 17 cards.
POP Series 5 is part of the EX era.
As of October 2026, POP Series 5 holds the 2nd highest total card value of the 10 comparable EX era sets, about 5.2 times the era median, and its Espeon ★ ranks 1st among the era's single most valuable cards. Trading activity is more modest, with the set ranking 5th in its era, and across the whole game it ranks 12th by total card value among 35 comparable sets. At 17 printed cards it sits about level with the era median. It followed Basic Energy (2007 copyright), and the next set, DP Black Star Promos, holds higher total value. Eleven of its cards first appeared in the Japanese PCG-P Promotional cards, released February 1, 2004.

The full run of POP Series 5 is 17 catalog printings, and 16 of them carry a market price. With 91 percent of total card value sitting in the top five cards, the cost of a complete set is set almost entirely by Espeon ★, Mew δ, Lugia and a couple of others, while the commons and uncommons are minor additions. Collectors working through the card list will find the checklist short, with the illustrator credits spread across 8 artists. One sealed product is listed for the set, an other sealed item rather than a standard booster box.
